This week in your Raven Nation, ROHS students added to fall festivities by participating in a pumpkin decorating competition sponsored by the student council. Students competed in their 6th hours to design their pumpkins, which were judged by ROHS Interim Principal Angela Ashburn. Participating in these fun festive activities is a great way to bring our ROHS community closer together and foster holiday cheer.
Mrs. Ashburn announced her vote for the top pumpkin yesterday.
“My favorite is going to be the Taylor Swift pumpkin because it’s sparkly and it’s got historical perspective in it and it looks like a lot of people worked to create the timeline together,” said Ashburn. “It was a very difficult decision because there are so many outstanding pumpkins. I could probably pick a top 5.”
Other staff members offered their perspectives on the pumpkin decorating contest.
Music teacher David Jensen’s favorite pumpkin was decorated by students in the 6th hour Med Skills class.
“I like the surgeon with the heart in the hands because it’s very graphic and very alarming and kind of clever and kind of cool, I like it,” Jensen said.
Student council co- adviser Megan McCaffery thought the students in Ms. Lindsay Cole’s class deserved the top spot.
“My favorite pumpkin is the one with the little ghosts. It’s so simple, yet festive at the same time,” said McCaffery. “I mostly appreciate that the whole class had a part in making it. It reflects the uniqueness of each individual student while honoring the learning community as a collective group! Plus it’s cute.”
