On January 27th, the Girls Varsity Bowling team placed 2nd in the 2024 Tri-County Tournament. Royal Oak began the tournament an underdog, ranked #13 out of #16.

Starting off the tournament, Royal Oak beat #4 Dakota Macomb in the round of 16, then came up first against #5 Southfield in the quarterfinals. After beating Mercy with a score of 306 to 288 pins in the semi-finals, Royal Oak advanced to the finals. The Royal Oak Girls Bowling team ended the tournament 2nd place, losing in the finals to Oxford with a difference of 43 pins.

Winning 2nd place in the Tri-County Tournament has been a very rewarding experience for the team, according to Girls Varsity Bowler Layla Prokurat.

“The team was very excited about making it to second, and I think especially the coaches because we hadn’t made it that far before,” said Prokurat.

With this achievement, it is no wonder the team is excited about their win. ROHS eagerly waiting to see if the Girls Varsity Bowling team’s momentum continues to grow this season.
