This year, Brittney Laurent and Gabrielle Buttazzoni are taking 60 students and parents on the trip of a lifetime! Through the home of Anne Frank to the Palace of Versailles, the trip will take place over 11 days and 4 different countries. Though the chance to join this trip is gone, the pair plans on doing more trips within the coming years.
“Ideally, we would like to have this be an alternating year kind of thing, that way everyone gets to go at least once if they want to. Many people haven’t traveled internationally yet that’s a good way to ease into it,” says Laurent.
For the other year, the trip would preferably be somewhere overlooked in terms of international travel, such as Africa or South America, and other teachers are expected to join these trips as well. The trips will be planned well over a year in advance so everyone has an equal opportunity to save money and fundraise. More information will be out from
Laurent and Buttazzoni as soon as next fall regarding a 2026 trip. These trips are special because you can create new bonds and build upon your previous friendships.
“We get to see everything while we’re there and you don’t have to lift a finger in planning! We all just show up and get taken around. We get to pick and choose where we want to go and what we want to see,” says Laurent.
These trips provide an excellent opportunity for those who want to travel and may not be able to do so on their own. As of right now, Royal Oak High School is working on setting up an account to fundraise and give scholarships for those who may want to go but can’t afford it. Parents can rest assured that their students will be in a safe, school-friendly environment and will be well taken care of, but parents and guardians are more than welcome to join. These trips are available for any students to see. They’re not limited to grade or per club, being something anyone interested can go on.
