Rounding up Royal Oak

Find yourself a sports fan? Look no further than the all-new Raven Roundup podcast featuring Host Sam Klonke and Co-host Ben Machiniak, both varsity football players for the ROHS team. As mentioned in the podcast’s intro, the Raven Roundup is a “backstage pass to the latest updates, game highlights, and interviews with incredible Raven athletes and coaches.”

The podcast focuses on all sports played by ROHS students so that everyone can have something to tune in for. Machiniak talks about how the idea initially started, saying, “We had discussed the idea during the football season and it seemed like it would be really fun. I didn’t think the idea would be taken that seriously, but I’m so glad it was.” Klonkie also notes how much he enjoys working on the podcast, especially with his teammate and friend. “It’s easy to talk to Ben, we’re great friends and we both love talking about sports. We’re coworkers when we’re planning the episode, but we’re friends when we sit down and just talk, it’s great.”

The podcast has been able to reach many ROHS students through its positive energy and Raven spirit, especially with the amount of knowledge and appreciation for sports that both Machiniak and Klonke have. The Raven Roundup is a must-listen-to podcast, and a true 10/10.

Hi! My name is Sam Smith, and I’m a junior on the ROHS Acorn Newsmagazine team. I love reading, running, and listening to rock/alternative music. My favorite bands are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, and Slipknot (can’t forget Taylor as well!). They are what motivate me to keep working on schoolwork and to push myself as much as I can. I’m excited for a great year, and can’t wait to represent my school through the magazine!

Hello, I'm new to Acorn this year, and it's lovely to meet everyone. With being unfamiliar, it's always amazing to see such companionship in an environment rich with knowledge and information. And it's inspired me to work more on things I enjoy, like hobbies such as reading and drawing. Truthfully, it has been an honor to be participating with these lovely people, and I can't wait to see what's in store the rest of this year!
