As Artificial Intelligence is constantly being developed, finding its way into classrooms, workspaces, and even artistic hobbies, how is the military using AI?
AI has found a place in almost everyday life for most people looking for a convenient way to solve menial tasks. Most of the concern covering AI comes from its growing use and incorporation into our lives.
Reportedly, AI has been used in conflicts such as Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Palestine, and by world superpower governments to raise efficiency in their modern militaries. U.S. corporations including Palantir Technologies have found themselves on the forefront of AI in the frontlines of Eastern Ukraine.
Palantir has faced scrutiny in the past for its use of data collection technologies. They reportedly have had multiple connections and contracts for militaries connected in the conflict within the Gaza Occupied Zone, and faced heavy controversy for being complicit in war crimes due to use of their technology. There is increasing concern regarding the use of these technologies in war zones as the conflict in Ukraine escalates with a new counter-offensive front in the Russian ‘Kursk’ region, prompting questions about the moral ethics of AI being used in war.
