Juniors defeat seniors, 6-0, in annual ROHS Powderpuff match up

Royal Oak High School’s annual powderpuff game on October 26th resulted in a win for the juniors, who defeated the seniors by a score of 6-0. Powderpuff games follow the traditional flag football rules, while also serving as a fun event for students to attend.

This year, junior Gracie Jagodzinski scored the only touchdown for the juniors with five minutes remaining in the second half. The juniors were proud of their win, celebrating the victory with pride and integrity.

“We practiced as hard as we could,” said Keveney. “The win was unexpected, because usually the seniors win, but it was a lot of fun, and I’m proud of our team.”

The seniors posed a competitive challenge, but lost by a slim margin.

“I’m a little disappointed, but I know we could’ve had the game,” said senior Anna Schroeder, who commended her teammates’ efforts.

Varsity football coach  Colin Campbell shared his perspective on the exciting game, in spite of  the loss for the seniors.

“I’m glad they got to come out and play. Everybody got to have a good experience, which to me is positive, ” Campbell said.

Despite the negative emotions a loss can bring, the light-hearted game gave all involved unforgettable and exciting memories. Both grades involved had fun during the duration of the game.  The juniors are more prepared for next year’s game, when they will be seniors, and ready to take on their last year as Ravens.
