The Acorn Graphics Editor, Sidney Kapelanski shares her daily life and what it’s like working in the Acorn classroom environment.
Sidney’s morning starts off productively, getting ready and preparing for the day ahead. After eating a healthy breakfast, it’s a necessity for her to listen to music as she completes her morning routine, says goodbye to her two cats, and leaves for school.
Sidney takes classes such as Social Justice, AP Biology, AP Literature, and of course Acorn. Being the graphics editor in Acorn, it’s important she finds time to write a story for the next, upcoming issue all while she focuses on creating graphics for her classmates. Compared to the 2022-2023 school year, when Sidney worked only as a reporter, she now has a little more work to do. She says she has more responsibility now, having less free time in Acorn because she prioritizes her position as the graphics editor. Despite this, she’s content in her position and enjoys designing “artsy” things for the class.
After her day at school, Sidney spends her time focusing on both her own wellness and her school work. After taking time to work on homework she likes to enjoy her free time by exercising, writing stories, and spending time with her family. All the while, she manages to take time out of her day to learn another language which she’s dedicated nearly two years of her life to. Sidney finally ends the day by practicing self-care and reading books by her favorite author, Fyodor Dostoevsky, before bed.
