Fall is a time for renewal, reorganization, and refocus. School starts up again, sports spring back into action, the days get colder, and the workload for all of us gets larger. In the spirit of reflecting on the summer and anticipating the new events that the school year brings, the staff here at Acorn collected their personal “Ins and Outs” for the fall semester.
The start of the school year can be a stressful time. There’s lots going on, and there are many new things to adjust to. Because of that, an overarching theme for fall 2024 is comfort. Comfortable clothing, such as sweat suits, pajama pants, and Uggs, are in. Why waste time dressing up in the mornings when you can save time and be much more comfortable by throwing on your cozy closet staples? Along with cozy clothes, comforting classic fall flavors are in, like pumpkin, apple, and chai. The muggy heat of this past summer is out and embrace the cooler temperatures and pretty colors of autumn. When you are not doing schoolwork, look forward to doing the traditional autumn activities, like going to cider mills, carving pumpkins, and going to the football games! Staying positive and maintaining a good school-life balance is an important concept this fall. Burning out, overworking, and having negative mindsets are out.
Being comfortable and maintaining a healthy school-life balance doesn’t have to mean sacrificing productivity. As you transition from the free schedules of summer to the busy grind of fall, procrastination will need to go out.
As you transition from the free schedules of summer to the busy grind of fall, procrastination will need to go out. This includes anything getting in the way of productivity, like getting sick and spending too much time on social media. It’s key to prioritize completing work, while also ensuring to balance that with having time to relax as well.
With these ins and outs in mind, it’s important to enter the school year with clear goals and methods of making this year better than the one before. Whether you accomplish goals or not depends on if you’re able to make better habits, stay on top of your work, and maintain proper self care this fall.
